The first thing I noticed when checking out the latest collection by raw denim gurus, GoldSpun, was the buckles and straps – the obscene amount of buckes and straps. But as usual, the guys @ GS manage to keep things [fashionably] short of going overboard. Sporting enough cleverly designed cuts and curves along with an intuitive blend of materials to get your mind off all the dangling metal, this lienup is poised compete against the more minimalistic-yet-just-as-expertly-crafted garments of G-Star; a brand that – in more ways than one – seems to bear a heavy influence on this particular label (just check the names -GS anyone?). And just like their aforementioned inspiration, GoldSpun’s true strength lies in their masterfully constructed denim. This stuff is the epitome of raw – super rigid, super dark – and is (at least in my opinion) the real highlight of this collection.
Overall, once you finally finish adjusting and re-adjusting every single belt and buckle for that perfect fit, this lineup is pretty impressive and will serve as good momentum to carry GoldSpun through the end of this decade and into the next.

…At least that’s how it seemed this morning when we dropped the most anticipated shoe of this year. A line of nearly 30 people braved the blistering below-freezing temperatures hoping that their pair of Jams would be available by the time they got up to the register. What seemed like an eternity of waiting for some culminated in either a swipe (almost everyone brought out the plastic) or a serious downer. In what has to be record fashion, every pair went in a matter of about 20 minutes. And considering the fact that there were no holds, many of the skeptics were pleasantly surprised when Sheed nodded “Yes” to their inquiries of “that certain size”. Some went home phsyched and some went home pissed, but in the end it all went off without a hitch.

This weeks TYFA is a little more lax than the others have been as of late. We caught Kirk trying on an outfit that he had been eying for a while during a rare spurt of downtime. Ever the opportunist I figured that now would be a good time to get a glimpse of our usually camera-shy homeboy in making his rounds through the shop, since we so rarely see him up here [on the blog]. Little did I know that this brief goof-off period would turn out to be our TYFA post. Talk about 2 birds with one stone. Kirk’s rocking a dope mix of colors featuring a Penfield Stapleton Vest in navy, the Mixer Utility shirt by 10 Deep, his own APC New Standard denim (apparently a staple piece for these posts) finished off with the Eddie Cruz x UNDFTD x Nike Dunk High.

With the roaring success and acclaim surrounding the 1/2 Cents, Nike decided to bless us with one more taste befor the year lets out. If you missed out on the blue ones (fool ya once), then had the audacity to miss the silvers (fool ya twice, your shame both times), then you’ve got one more chance to get your hands on a pair for RETAIL! Although we all know that Penny never played for a team who wore green (much less this “shock/volt/electrolime” variation), Nike’s creativity and Just do it attitude, coupled with a ridiculously extensive color palette has produced yet another gem. Although these weren’t as hyped as the blues or silvers were, they are still expected to move out quick.

If you’ve been keeping up with the Clipse lately then you might have seen this particular piece pop up in a few places – including our shelves. We gave you a snippet in our last post, but we decided that this particular piece was just too nice and deserved to be covered in its own post.
This is the first collab project that Play Cloths has released under its own label (the whole New Era/Sharpie thing was actually for WISH ATL) and in typical PC fashion it falls nothing short of dope. This innagural collaboration also marks the first high profile release from Triple F.A.T. Goose since returning from their 15-year hiatus in 2008. While this jacket looks heavy it is actually extremely lightweight, a notable attribute considering that the F.A.T. stands for “For Arctic Temperatures”. The weight can be attributed to the fact that it is filled with 100% down, making it super soft as well. And when it comes to performance, this thing delivers – Trust me! (I tried it on inside the shop and started sweating within 3 minutes).
Many people got their first glimpse while watching the Clipse’s “Popular Demand” music video (worn by Malice), and like many of those people, I had expected the outer to be leather (due to the healthy shine of the skin). Sorry to dissapoint all the pigskin afficionados, but there’s no leather here. The shimmery material showcased actually happens to be extremely thin nylon, which is kinda interesting as it seems more like a material that would line the innards of a jacket rather than serve as the skin. Each sleeve dons a logo patch for each of the respected collaborators, and to make sure that other people know what time it is Play Cloths’ patented stripes are emblazoned across the back, over each shoulder and finally converging in front at the zipper. Oh and did i mention the removeable hood!
Overall, with the perfect balance of input on both sides this piece can be considered both a TFG and PC product and is a definite must cop for anyone looking to score the latest in streetwear – especially if you rocked Triple F.A.T. back in the day.

As if dropping another dope-ass album wasn’t enough, the Clipse and Play Cloths have hit us over the head with probably their sickest shipment to date. All of the newest PC heat is on hand @ the Factory and to be honest this shit is flaming hot! Those of you who were at the shop when the Brothers Thornton took over got to see the Spiffy flannel months in advance; and if you’ve been keeping up with their recent guerrilla music videos, you got to check their collab with Triple F.A.T. Goose. Needless to say, we got em both! So come out and check this stuff in person ASAP cuz every last one of these pieces can match up with what’s in the post below.

With all the special editions, fusions, countdowns, variants and so on that have been released in the past year or so, it’s nice to see the guys at JB finally go back and release a pair that MJ actually wore. After 12 years (I wonder if there’s any symbolism in that) in the Jordan vault, the White/Black/Varsity Red colorway that His Airness rocked on the road trips during the 96-97 season, is back on the shelves.
The return from the long hiatus has rejuvenated the appetite of many hardcore Jordan enthusiasts (such as myself) that just wanted to see an actual “on-court” pair re-released besides the classic-yet-cliche BRed XI. And for the skeptics that were just waiting to see how JB could screw this up (nubuck on Flu-Games, bleh!) you will be ecstatic to see that these are about as close to the OG model as it gets (thats right, Leather baby!). We’re glad to see these return as they were one of the best Chicago colorways during MJ’s run with the Bulls.
Next up, Space Jams!
