comme-des-garcons-desktop-wallpaper3

We’re excited to announce that in the coming months we will begin stocking apparel from Comme des Garçons – PLAY. Founded by Rei Kawakubo in Japan during the late 1960’s, CDG (Fr. trans: “Like some boys”) has been a major player in the world of high fashion ever since it first garnered critical acclaim in the seventies. The subsidiary, PLAY, has recently blossomed into it’s own force within the streetwear scene, becoming somewhat of a gateway brand for those leaning towards a transition to higher-end labels.

Keep an eye out for our first collection to be available in the coming months. Only @ Social Status.

New In Stock – Private Stock…

September 24th, 2011

Picture-106

In the months since we’ve last heard from Private Stock, creator Jon Koon has been quite the busy bee. Judging from our latest delivery it seems like the fledgling label has already reinvented itself considerably. Swaps in logo design, cuts, fabrics and just overall aesthetic provide an all new look to a still new brand. This change in trajectory apparently bodes well, as when compared and contrasted with other upstarts, PS looks most poised for a breakthrough. Switch-ups like this aren’t uncommon for up and coming brands, as some of the industry’s biggest names went through their fair share of changes before they established an identity. But considering that Koon’s been a self-made millionaire since 16, I’m pretty sure he’s got a knack for finding the sweet spot. And by the looks of things, I’d say he’s found a pretty good foundation to help this label flourish.

New In Stock – Play Cloths…

September 22nd, 2011

Picture-0412

Words cannot describe the level of heat that Play Cloths has managed to crank out for only it’s first drop of the season. There isn’t a single piece in this drop that you can sleep on, cause if you skip on just one thing – trust me – someone else grab it, and you’ll be feeling butthurt for the rest of the season.

Nike Air Force 1 Hi – Deep Burgundy/White…

September 22nd, 2011

Picture-0121

Does it really get more real than this? White on whites be damned, this has to be the hands down illest AF1 to drop this year. We already knew going in that burgundy/maroon was going to be the hot color, but we never expected heat like this. Premium leather, tweed mid panel, and yes – GUM BOTTOMS! The white swoosh serves solely to remind you that one, and only one company can ever drop this kind of heat. Period.

Nike Dunk Hi AC Premium – Bronze & Black…

September 22nd, 2011

Picture-0012

Picture-0701

The original release of the Dunk AC earlier this year put a classic twist on an already classic shoe. Replacing the legendary Dunk sole with a more lifestyle compatible one took the shoe from sporty to casual with the greatest of ease. Still, there were critics, due mostly to Nike’s faux-vintage application. Now the newest iteration seeks to silence said critics. Sporting genuine leather uppers in lieu of distressed suede and banishing pre-yellowed soles in favor of pearly whites, this Dunk peaks at a whole new level of classiness.

Nike Air Max Uptempo 2 – “Duke”

September 20th, 2011

Picture-0031

Of all the retro gems that have dropped this year, this one holds a special place for us NC heads – albeit for infamous reasons. During the 1994-95 college hoops season, this shoe became synonymous with the Duke Blue Devils. As one of the most heralded kicks among retro enthusiasts, it’s hard to imagine how much more lauded this shoe would be had Duke not faltered in the wake of Grant Hill’s departure to the League. Nonetheless, the Air Max Uptempo 2 remains one of Nike’s greatest on-court kicks ever dropped.

Nike Air Maestro Flight – Medium Grey/Solar Red…

September 20th, 2011

Picture-013

Back in the 90’s it seemed like if you had even a smidge of star power – no matter how fleeting – Nike had you on their roster. Hell, there were times when all ten men on the hardwood, superstars and role players alike, flaunted some form of Nike tech. If you were hot, you rocked a Swoosh. And if you were Scottie Pippen, you rocked Maestros. The year this model debuted, MJ’s wingman (who proved despite an early playoff exit, that he too was one of the greatest ever) could be seen rocking his red & blacks night in and out en route to an All Star MVP. Now these may not be Scottie’s R&B OG’ (we’re still waiting for those), but these hybrids added some serious bounce to many a hoop dream. As we wait for Nike to finally let Pip’s OG’s out of the vault, these’ll be sure to hold down a spot in the rotation.

Nike Air Trainer SC II – Deep Burgundy…

September 20th, 2011

Picture-0231

Looks like Nike’s giving you Bo heads a run for your money. After the recent upheaval caused by the decades-in-waiting release of the 2 OG colorways, Nike’s decided to flip things once again, this time dropping the heralded pro-model in a more than season-appropriate dressing. Deviating from the trademark SC formula, this edition switches things up by going heavy on a single hue and taking it pretty much as far as it can go. Since burgundy has always been a hallmark color for most any encounter this time of year, copping these should make for an easy choice.
